The Google Global Impact Award

Four organisations, including the fan favourite, received a Rs 3 crore Global Impact Award and support from Google to help make their vision a reality.
The four winning projects are using technology to tackle the world's toughest problems. Thousands of non-profits entered the Google Impact Challenge, and the awardees were chosen by our panel of judges and a public vote. Inspired by the passion and the projects of each of the finalists, Google decided to award each additional non-profit in the top ten with Rs 1.5 crore in seed funding.

In accordance with this, GSC @ IIT Kharagpur was one out of two GSCs in India to win the Google Impact Challenge - Get Out the Vote Challenge, mainly due to the experience of our GSA Ms. Samidha Paroha. The projects involved as final awardees were:

  • To provide an integrated water and sanitation system to support health villages.
  • To improve the network of motorbike science labs to educate rural kids.
  • To formulate a video hub to scale agricultural training.
  • To design apps to connect citizens with the government.
