What is a GSA Program?

The GSA Program stands for the Google Students Ambassador Program, instituted in several colleges and premier institutes all over the world to facilitate dissemination of knowledge about Google's events, products and activities. The head of the Google Students Club at every institute is the Google Students Ambassador, commonly abbreviated as GSA, who is the student representative of Google in the respective college campus. The GSA acts as the bridge between the student community and Google, and is responsible in carrying out activities within the campus and to increase awareness about what Google's up to.

As always, the GSA is characterized by someone who is intensely passionate about developing technology and its diverse interactions with humans. He/She should have a unique sense of innovation and entrepreneurship to drive the same in the campus. Also, the GSA is involved in several steps to fulfill his/her responsibilities. As much as it is needed to take a leading initiative in core team meeting with her club team, the GSA would be involved in internal stakeholder management to successfully concoct deliverables.

In our campus, at IIT Kharagpur, the Google Students Club consists of 9 members, including the GSA, Ms. Samidha Paroha, a Third Year CSE undergraduate. The other 8 members consist of undergraduates as follows:

  • Mr. Anurag Kar
  • Mr. Palash Mittal
  • Mr. Vivek Rai
  • Ms. Apurva Swarnakar
  • Mr. Ashish Gour
  • Mr. Gaurav Jain
  • Mr. Krishna Chaitanya
  • Mr. Anirud Thyagharajan
The team was formed in the month of August in 2013. The team has been actively involved in conducting some competitions within the campus, closely involved with the CSE Department, IIT Kharagpur, like the GCDC and some Codenites.
